As the Director and Co-Founder of Content to Capture (formerly NTD Publishing), Neil Donnelly launched a local business directory in 2005 that grew to reach nearly 300,000 readers across Brisbane’s southern and western suburbs. He has been in the business of connecting businesses with their customers for a long time; long enough to remember when a listing in the local business directory was the cornerstone of any small business marketing strategy. Then they became obsolete almost overnight, replaced by something called Google Search. Neil has spent 25 years in advertising, publishing, marketing and communications. So he pivoted, closing the print operation and remaking NTD Publishing as a digital communications consultancy, focused on helping businesses make the transition to inbound and search-based marketing.

Now, everything is changing, again

Now, Artificial intelligence is quietly and rapidly transforming how people find information, and how they find businesses. The search bar is giving way to AI-powered assistants that synthesise information, make recommendations and answer questions directly. The good news? The rules of AI optimisation are not so different from what we have always done: create genuinely useful, authoritative, well-structured content.
